Sinn band size chart by model

Sinn is a two-width brand with a shelf of exceptions. The catalog splits almost evenly between 20mm and 22mm [43], and Sinn is one of the few manufacturers that prints the lug width on every product page and filters its own strap shop by it [42]. The traps are real anyway: the U50 and T50 are 20mm divers in a family whose name says 22mm to most owners [18] [20], the 856 and 857 look like siblings and sit one width apart [10], and one strap-retailer page prints a 19mm width for the 556 I that contradicts Sinn's own spec sheet [53]. Then there is the second sizing system nobody explains: Sinn sells leather, canvas and silicone straps in S, M and L lengths, and owners with ordinary wrists report the straps run long [50]. This chart carries the width for 25 model families on first-party sinn.de data, with the length system decoded next to it.

Quick answers: 556, 104, 103, 356, 856, 613 and EZM 3 take 20mm. U1, U2, UX, 857, 903, 240, 757, 836, EZM 7 and U1000 take 22mm. U50 and T50 are the 20mm exceptions inside the diver line. The 717 and the U212 take 24mm, the U200 takes 18mm, the 1736 Classic takes 19mm, and the 243 and 456 ladies watches take 14mm. After the width, pick the length: S, M or L, where M fits roughly 16.5 to 19.5cm wrists on leather and Sinn straps run long, so smaller wrists should start at S.

The width map: 20 and 22, with exceptions at the edges

Sinn's own catalog is the reference here, because Sinn publishes what most brands hide. The all-watches listing carries a lug-width facet: 14mm on 12 models, 19mm on 10, 20mm on 49, 22mm on 51, 24mm on exactly one current watch [43]. The strap shop opens with the definition, the lug width is the width of the strap at the attachment points of the watch and determines which straps are compatible with the watch model, and lets you filter all 149 straps by 14, 18, 19, 20, 22 or 24mm [42]. The pattern behind the numbers: 38.5 to 41mm tool-watch cases run 20mm, 43mm-and-up pilots and divers run 22mm, and everything unusual in case size carries an unusual width, down to 14mm on the 28mm ladies watches and up to 24mm on the 45mm 717.

The chart: 25 verified rows

Width is what a replacement strap must match at the lugs. Every row rests on Sinn's own product pages or factory data sheets, plus at least one independent surface: a dealer, a retailer guide or a documented owner consensus. Where an independent page contradicts the factory spec, the factory spec wins and the conflict is disclosed below rather than averaged.

The 20mm block: 556, 104, 103, 356, 856, 613, EZM 3

The entry side of the Sinn catalog is one 20mm ecosystem, and Sinn says so in its own documents. The 556 I page prints the spec the way every model page does: case diameter 38,5 mm, band lug width 20 mm [1], and the factory brochure extends it to the whole model series 556 [2]. The US dealer WatchBuys carries the same numbers, 20mm lugs and 45.5mm lug-to-lug on a 38.5mm case [3], and the band-maker guide that sparked most of the search interest confirms 20mm for the 556 and 104 with drilled lugs, citing Sinn's own specifications and noting the case is identical between them [4]. The 104's own product page prints the same 20mm width on its 41mm case [5]. Older and current chronographs follow: the archive 103 pages print 20mm on the 41mm pilot chronograph [6], the 356 factory brochure puts the whole 38.5mm series, acrylic PILOT versions included, at 20mm [7] [8], and the current 613 St UTC data sheet prints 20mm on the 41mm diving chronograph, matching the EZM 13.1 brochure before it [12] [13]. The EZM 3, the 500m mission timer, is 20mm on Sinn's page [14] and 20mm in the independent compatibility table [52]. The 856 belongs here too, at 20mm on its 40mm case, which is exactly why it gets its own warning in the next section [9].

The 22mm block, and the U-family trap

Everything 43mm and up in the tool line runs 22mm. The U1 page prints band lug width 22 mm on the 44mm submarine-steel case [15], the U2 S (EZM 5) and UX S (EZM 2B) data sheets print 22mm for theirs [16] [17], and the band-maker guide groups U1, U2, UX, 757, 857, 900, 903 as one 22mm specification confirmed by Sinn's own strap listings [23]. The 856/857 pair is the trap that costs money: they share a dial language and a technology list, but the factory brochure prints 20mm with the 40mm 856 case and 22mm with the 43mm 857 case, in the same document [10]. The 903 St II is 22mm [22], the 240 St GZ is 22mm [24] and WatchBuys prints the same for the 240 St [25], the whole 757 series is 22mm per its brochure [26], and the 836 runs 22mm on Sinn's page and in dealer band listings [27] [28].

The U family is where the name misleads. The U50 is a proper submarine-steel diver, but Sinn's own page prints band lug width 20 mm on its 41mm case [18], the series brochure repeats it [19], and the authorized dealer that sells the OEM silicone straps says it plainly: for a U50 or T50, choose 20mm, for a U1, U2 or UX, choose 22mm [47]. The T50, titanium, 41mm, is 20mm on Sinn's page and in the T50 brochure [20] [21]. At the extremes: the U200, the 37mm small-wrist diver, is 18mm per its brochure and the launch coverage [35] [36], the U212 is 24mm tapering to a 22mm clasp [34] [47], and the U1000 is 22mm but takes its own thicker-lug silicone strap, a difference dealers themselves missed until they asked Sinn [30] [31].

The odd widths: 24, 19, 18, 14

Four widths sit outside the 20/22 split, and all four are factory-documented. The 717 cockpit chronograph is the single current 24mm watch, 45mm of case with a 24mm leather strap, confirmed by the data sheet and the hands-on coverage [32] [33]. The 1736 Classic, 36mm, runs 19mm lugs, and Sinn sells a dedicated 19mm calfskin strap with a 16mm buckle for it [37] [38]; 19mm is the awkward width of the catalog, ten models by Sinn's own count [43]. The U200's 18mm is covered above. And the ladies lines, the rectangular 243 and the round 28mm 456, are 14mm per their data sheets and the per-reference dealer tables [39] [41] [40], with the 434 line at 18mm alongside them [40]. Archive references that no longer appear on sinn.de can still be placed by the owner-maintained silicone compatibility list, which sorts the 20mm generation (103, 144, 156, 157, 203, 256, 303, 356, 556, 656, 756, 856, EZM 1 through 4) from the 22mm generation (U1, U2, UX, U1000, 757, 857, 900, 903, 956, 958, 1746) [31].

The S/M/L strap-length system, decoded

Once the width is right, Sinn asks a second question most brands do not: strap length, in S, M and L on leather and silicone, in short, standard and long on the textile straps. The numbers exist, just not on one page at Sinn, so here they are collected. For the leather straps, an authorized Sinn dealer publishes the actual lengths, buckle excluded: Short 11.5cm on the long side by 7.3cm on the short side, Medium 12.5 by 8.3cm, Long 13.5 by 9.3cm [45]. The canvas straps run a size shorter at each step, S 10.5 by 7.5cm through L 12.5 by 9.5cm [46]. For the integrated silicone straps the same dealer system is expressed as wrist ranges: S for 14 to 14.5cm wrists, M for 16.5 to 17.5cm, L for 19.5 to 20.5cm [48], and an Australian dealer states the default outright: watches ship on M bands suitable for roughly 16.5 to 19.5cm wrists, say so if you need S or L [49].

The owner reports behind the Reddit confusion fill in what the dealers understate: Sinn straps run long. The thread that opens with a 180mm wrist and confusion between S, M and L lands on M, with a 17cm wearer in S with two or three holes left, a 16.5cm wearer in S on Alcantara, and an explanation that sticks: these are pilot watches, meant to be worn over clothing in a pinch, so the straps are cut long and even the bracelets ship with a diver's extension [50]. One owner had to cut leather off a 104 strap and punch new holes on a 17cm wrist. The textile line sizes the same direction: on a 6.25 inch wrist the forum consensus is short, with standard reported too big for wrists under about 6.75 inches [51]. The silicone straps are a third system again: not holed leather but cut-to-length, and Sinn's own customer-service page instructs cutting between the metal pins, symmetrically, 5mm per pin per side, with the quick-adjust clasp fitted first so you can test before cutting [44]. If your question is fit rather than replacement, measure as the measuring guide shows, and if your wrist is under about 16.5cm, order S before the page's default M.

Rows and claims we refused

One retailer page prints 19mm for the Sinn 556 I and 22mm for the U50 [53]. Both contradict Sinn's own spec sheets, 20mm for the 556 I [1] and 20mm for the U50 [18], and the same site's own brand summary says the 556, 104 and 856 all use 20mm and the U1 steps up to 22mm, so the site disagrees with itself between pages. The 19mm and 22mm figures are refused; the factory numbers are charted. The same treatment for a dealer-side error documented by owners: WatchBuys listed the EZM 13 as a 22mm watch when the EZM 13 line is 20mm per its own Sinn brochure, an error the owner thread called out explicitly [31] [13]. And a compatibility guide that tables the 556 A with a 50mm case diameter against the correct 20mm width [52] is used here only for the models where its width matches the factory pages, never as the size authority.

What the market tables get wrong

The incumbent coverage of Sinn strap sizing is thin for a brand this systematic. The broadest compatibility table covers ten models, stops at widths, and prints the 556 case diameter wrong [52]. The band-maker guides are accurate but cover only the bestsellers, the 556 and 104 pair on one page [4] and the U1, 757, 903 trio on another [23]. The US dealer that owns the American market publishes strap listings and a help line instead of a fit chart [3], and no surface anywhere collects the S/M/L length system next to the widths, which is the question the forums keep answering from scratch [50] [51]. The factory rail is unusually good, widths printed on every product page and a strap shop filtered by width [42], so this page's job is assembling that rail into the whole-family matrix the dealer network never published.
