Lug-to-Lug Database: 25 Popular Watches
Case diameter, lug-to-lug and thickness for the watches people actually ask about. Every figure below was confirmed by at least two independent sources (manufacturer spec pages, authorized dealers, or caliper-measured reviews). The full source list is at the bottom. Where sources disagree by more than 1 mm, the row is flagged ⚠️ and the discrepancy is explained in the notes.
How to use this: find your wrist's flat width (10-second measurement), then rule out any watch whose lug-to-lug exceeds it. The "min. wrist" column applies our width model (width ≈ 0.292 × circumference) to each lug-to-lug figure. Treat it as a starting point, not a verdict. Smartwatches sit outside this table because their band widths are fixed per model: the Garmin band width by model table lists every current watch, its attachment system, and its official wrist range.

What the numbers say
- Diameter is a bad predictor of footprint. The Tudor Black Bay 58 (39 mm) has essentially the same lug-to-lug (47.6 mm) as the Omega Speedmaster Professional (42 mm, 47.5 mm) and the Rolex Submariner 41 (41 mm, 47.6 mm). Same length on the wrist, three different diameters.
- Lug design moves the number more than diameter does. The Rolex Explorer 36 and Datejust 36 are both 36 mm watches with near-identical spans (43.5 vs 44 mm), yet the 42.5 mm Seiko SRPD spans only 46 mm, just 2 mm less than the much-larger-looking GMT-Master II (48 mm) and 2 mm more than the Rolex pair. Curved lugs compress the span; straight lugs don't.
- Integrated bracelets are the trap. The Tissot PRX 35 is listed at a 39 mm case-only lug-to-lug, but its fixed first bracelet links push the effective length to ~45 mm; the PRX 40's effective length is ~51 mm. Judge integrated-bracelet watches by the effective figure.
- Small wrists are better served than ever. Current-generation picks that fit 15-16 cm (6-6.3") wrists: Explorer 36 (43.5 mm), Datejust 36 (44 mm), PRX 35 (~45 mm effective), Alpinist (46.4 mm), Bambino (46.5 mm), Khaki Field Mechanical 38 (47 mm, right at the edge).
Notes per watch
- Rolex Submariner 41 (124060): Hodinkee measured 40.6-40.8mm actual diameter; caliper L2L 47.6mm widely cited. Consistent with ~47.5mm anchor.
- Rolex Submariner 40 (114060/116610): Maxi-case generation 2010-2020; thickness reported 12.5-13.0mm across sources.
- Rolex Datejust 36 (126200): Some caliper reviews (ECI Jewelers, Tim Mosso video) measure 43.3-43.4mm L2L and 11.5-12mm thick; all within ~1mm.
- Rolex Datejust 41 (126300/126334): Chrono24 owner measured 47.5mm L2L and 39.5mm actual diameter; Bob's chart lists 46.5mm L2L - majority consensus 47.5-47.6mm.
- Rolex Explorer 36 (124270): Worn&Wound caliper-measured 43.0mm L2L exactly; 19mm lug width.
- Rolex GMT-Master II 40 (126710): Thickness 12.1-12.5mm across sources; WristBuzz lists 47.0mm L2L (within ~1mm).
- Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 42 (210.30.42): Monochrome lists 13.7mm thick / 50mm L2L; Teddy Baldassarre 13.6mm / 49.9mm - within 0.1-0.5mm.
- Omega Speedmaster Professional 42 (310.30.42.50): Hesalite 13.18-13.2mm; sapphire sandwich slightly thicker (13.5-13.6mm per The Watchology). Worn&Wound measured 47.2mm L2L.
- Tudor Black Bay 58 (M79030): L2L reported 47.0-47.8mm across reviews (aBlogtoWatch 47.6, ProfessionalWatches 47.5, Everest 47.8, WristBuzz 47.3); thickness 11.8-11.9mm.
- Tudor Black Bay 41 (M79680/7941): Current slim generation (2023+): 12.1-12.3mm thick, 50.0-50.2mm L2L. Older MT5602 diver gen (79230) was 14.5-14.8mm thick - do not mix.
- Seiko SKX007: Discontinued; dimensions consistent across Worn&Wound, Hodinkee, Strapmill, Relojes.wiki.
- Seiko 5 Sports SRPD (SRPD55): Seiko official spec page lists 13.4mm thick / 46.0mm L2L; Worn&Wound and Hodinkee concur.
- Seiko Alpinist SPB121: Watchfinder and Time+Tide both 39.5 x 13.2 x 46.4mm; one dealer guide rounds L2L to 46mm, one review to 47.2mm.
- Citizen Promaster Diver BN0150: Diameter conflict: 43mm (Two Broke Watch Snobs, DiveWatchBlog) vs 44mm (Time Bum, Hiconsumption, WatchUSeek) - Citizen does not publish official case diameter. L2L 48mm agreed by all. Thickness 11.5-12mm.
- Orient Kamasu (RA-AA0004E19A): Orient USA lists 41.88mm case; reviews 41.8mm / 46.8-47mm L2L / 12.8-13.0mm thick.
- Orient Bambino (40.5mm, Ver. 2/3): Bambino comes in several sizes (38/40.5/42mm); figures are for the standard 40.5mm version: Orient USA lists 46.8mm L2L / 11.8mm thick, PSB ~46mm L2L, Reddit measurements 46.5mm.
- Tissot PRX 35mm: Integrated bracelet: case-only L2L 39mm, but effective length ~44.7-44.9mm including fixed first links (Time+Tide, Fratello, Hodinkee). Thickness 9.6mm (quartz) or 10.93mm (Powermatic 80) - left blank due to two distinct official values.
- Tissot PRX 40mm: L2L left blank: integrated bracelet makes it method-dependent - case 'length' ~44.5-45mm vs effective ~51-51.5mm including fixed first links (Hodinkee: 'effective lug-to-lug around 51mm'; The Theo Wrist guide 51.5mm). Tissot lists 10.9mm thick (Worn&Wound measured 11.2mm); quartz 10.4mm.
- Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38 (H694399): Hamilton official spec page lists 38mm / 47mm L2L / 9.5mm; Fratello and Teddy Baldassarre concur. Matches ~45mm+ L2L anchor direction (task's 45mm anchor appears low; official + two reviews say 47mm).
- Casio Duro MDV106: Teddy Baldassarre/izreview measure 44.2mm wide, 48.5mm L2L, 12.1mm thick; Blade Reviews/Chronometer Check list 44mm / 48mm / 12mm. All within ~0.5-1mm.
- Casio G-Shock GA-2100 (CasiOak): Official Casio case size 48.5 x 45.4 x 11.8mm confirmed by The Watch Out, MTR, DudeTastic, Time+Tide; one review (Millenary Watches) lists 47mm L2L as outlier.
- Timex Weekender 40: L2L conflict >1mm: Timex official product spec 48.5mm vs Delugs 47mm for TW2R42400. Note the Weekender family also has a 38mm case (~45.4mm L2L per WatchUSeek/Bob's) often confused with the 40mm.
- Invicta Pro Diver 8926OB (40mm): Two reviews agree 40mm / ~48mm L2L / ~14mm thick; one YouTube review measured 47.5-47.75mm L2L and 14.5mm thick (within ~1mm).
- Longines HydroConquest 39 (2026, L3.779): Current (2026) generation: 39mm / 48.1mm L2L / 11.7mm thick confirmed by Hodinkee, Monochrome, Watch Advice, Calibrated Wrist. Earlier generations (41/43mm) differ.
- Seiko Turtle SRP777: Diameter and L2L consistent (44.3mm / 48mm); thickness 13.25-14mm across sources (Hodinkee 'slightly over 13mm', TBWS 14mm).
