How the fit verdict works
- Lug-to-lug vs wrist width. The lugs are the horns that hold the strap. If lug-to-lug exceeds the flat width of the wrist, the watch overhangs the edges and looks (and feels) too big, no matter what the case diameter says. This is the single most important check, and the one most size charts skip.
- Case diameter vs wrist width. Diameter decides how much of the wrist top the face covers. Roughly 50-75% coverage reads proportional; beyond that reads oversized (fine for G-Shocks, wrong for dress watches).
- Wrist width from circumference. If you only know your circumference, we estimate the flat width across the top of your wrist from it (calibrated to published sizing charts, about 52 mm at a 17.8 cm / 7" wrist). Anatomy varies around that by a few percent, so measuring the width directly with a ruler is more accurate, enter it above and it overrides the estimate.
- Style adjustment. Dress watches read best slightly smaller, divers and sport watches carry extra size. The verdict shifts by ±2 mm accordingly.
