Nixon band size chart by model

Nixon is the brand that built its strap line around three widths, 16mm, 20mm and 23mm [25], and then kept making watches that fit none of them. The Sentry, the brand's bestseller, is 23mm at the lugs [1] [2], a width most strap shops stock badly, so the internet rounds it to 22mm and one retailer FAQ even prints 18mm or 20mm for it [27]. The 51-30 is 25mm and hangs on screw bars rather than spring bars [14], the Corporal is 24mm [16], the Patrol is 21mm [18] and the Siren is 18mm [20]: four current watches, four widths Nixon does not sell. Every row below carries Nixon's own spec block plus at least one independent surface, and the models we could not verify two ways are listed as refused, not guessed.

Quick answers: Sentry, Sentry Leather and Sentry Chrono take 23mm. Sentry Solar takes 20mm. Time Teller (37mm) and Time Teller Solar (40.5mm) take 20mm. 51-30 and 51-30 Chrono take 25mm on screw bars. Corporal takes 24mm. Patrol takes 21mm. Siren takes 18mm. Porter takes 20mm. Regulus and Regulus Expedition take 24mm. Kensington takes 16mm.

Check the family before the size

Nixon sizes by family, not by case diameter, and two watches with near-identical names can take different straps. The trap pair is the Sentry: the regular Sentry and Sentry Chrono are 42mm cases with 23mm lugs [1] [4], while the newer Sentry Solar shrank to a 40mm case and 20mm lugs [6] [7]. The Time Teller pulls the same move in reverse: the classic is 37mm with 20mm lugs [9], the Solar grew to 40.5mm but kept 20mm lugs [11]. Type a model name below to filter the table.

The chart: 12 verified rows

The Lug width column is the figure printed in the specifications block of Nixon's own product pages (Watch Size, Lug Measurement, Band Connection), cross-checked against Nixon's printable measuring sheet and against independent strap retailers. Where the band tapers, the taper is Nixon's own figure for the stock bracelet or strap; an aftermarket two-piece strap only needs to match the lug width, and the strap taper guide explains the second number.

The 23mm trap, and why the internet says 22mm

The Sentry is Nixon's best-selling watch and it takes a 23mm strap, a width the generic strap market treats as an afterthought. Nixon's own spec blocks are unambiguous: 23mm lug measurement on the Sentry Leather [1], the Sentry Stainless Steel [2] [3] and the Sentry Chrono [4], and Nixon cuts its own replacement bands at 23mm to match, leather, Cordura canvas and steel, SKUs C3292-000, C3250-134 and C3295-1920 among them [26]. The printable measuring sheet Nixon publishes puts the whole Sentry family in its 23mm group [24]. Independent strap retailers that list Nixon per-model agree on 23mm for the Sentry and Sentry Chrono [8]. Against that record stands the advice floating around forums and retailer FAQs: squeeze a 22mm strap because 23mm is hard to find, and one replacement-band retailer's FAQ prints the Sentry at 18mm or 20mm entirely [27]. A 22mm strap in 23mm lugs is not a hack, it is a loose strap that shifts and wears a ridge into the leather. If 23mm is out of stock everywhere, a 24mm NATO-style one-piece strap cannot be forced down to 23mm either; measure first with the measuring guide and buy the right width.

The 51-30 is 25mm and it does not use spring bars

Two traps stack on the 51-30. First the width: 25mm at the lugs, printed on Nixon's own product pages for the 51-30 Chrono [14] and measured the same by dealers handling the tide-mode 51-30 [15]. Second the attachment: Nixon's spec lists screw pin lugs and a screw bar band connection [14], so the standard spring-bar technique in most swap guides does not apply. One-piece NATO straps pass straight through, which is why they are the usual third-party answer for this watch, and two-piece straps mean unscrewing the bars and reusing them. Note the case is a hair over 51mm on dealer calipers, 51.25mm for the A057-100 tide model [15], so strap length matters as much as width on wrists under 7 inches; see the strap length chart.

The four widths Nixon does not sell

Nixon's replacement band shop offers exactly three lug sizes: 16mm, 20mm and 23mm [25]. That is a clean admission of which watches the company expects you to re-strap: the Kensington at 16mm, the Time Teller, Porter, Light-Wave and Sentry Solar at 20mm, the Sentry family at 23mm. Everyone else is on their own. The 51-30 needs 25mm [14], the Corporal and the Regulus need 24mm [16] [23], the Patrol needs 21mm [18] and the Siren needs 18mm [20]. For those, third-party strap makers cover the standard widths well; the odd ones out are 21mm for the Patrol and 25mm for the 51-30, the two widths where stock is thinnest and temptation to round up or down is highest. Do not. An 18mm Siren strap and a 24mm Regulus strap are both easy finds; a 21mm Patrol strap takes slightly more searching and is worth it.

Nixon's own printable chart, and what it adds

Nixon publishes a printable measuring sheet with a model-by-model compatibility list [24], and it is the closest thing to an official master table. It agrees with the current product pages everywhere the two overlap: Kensington in the 16mm group, Porter and the Time Teller at 20mm, the Sentry family at 23mm. It also carries two pieces of information the product pages do not. It lists a Medium Time Teller in the 16mm group, a smaller variant we could not find a current product page for; if you own one, the sheet says 16mm and your calipers should confirm. And it puts two discontinued families, the High Tide and the Ripley, in the 23mm group alongside the Sentry, which is worth knowing if you are buying straps for an older Nixon: 23mm Sentry bands fit those too. The sheet's groups predate the Sentry Solar, the Time Teller Solar and the Light-Wave, so for anything solar, trust the current product page over the sheet.

Rows we refused to publish

The Light-Wave (36mm solar, recycled ocean plastic) reads 20mm on every Nixon surface we checked, the US product pages, the Canadian storefront and the printable sheet's model list [29] [28], but no independent strap-maker or spec-database listing was found this build, so it stays out of the chart until a second surface confirms. Treat it as 20mm with a measurement before ordering. The Cannon, the C3, the Trip Nixon SDK collaborations and the Sinter: no verifiable two-source lug widths were found at all, and we publish nothing for them; measure between the lugs. One naming note: searches for a Nixon "Port" band size land on the Porter line, and no separate current Port model appears in Nixon's catalog, so if your caseback says something else, the reference on the back is the key, not the name on the dial.

Your watch is not in the table

Then measure, and do not let anyone sell you a width. Two Nixon-specific traps before you search elsewhere: a 23mm reading on a Sentry is correct, not a typo, and if your Nixon is solar, check the product page for the exact model, because the solar generation of a family does not always keep the lug width of the original.
