Helgray band size chart by model

Helgray is a dormant Kickstarter-era catalog that still states its widths the clean way. Of the 43 rows in the maker's catalog feed, 21 watch rows carry the line Lug width : 22 mm or Lug Width : 20 mm verbatim in their spec blocks [13], splitting into exactly two widths: 22mm eleven times and 20mm ten times. The split ignores the case number completely. The 42mm GMT states Lug Width : 20 mm [6] while the 42mm Hornet Fighter states Lug Width : 22 mm [3], and the 40mm class splits the same way, Silverstone at 20mm [5] against Poseidon at 22mm [1].

Quick answers: Vigilante, Hornet and Poseidon take 22mm. Silverstone, Speedster, Field Officer, GMT, California, Skyfighter, Brigadier and Field Officer II take 20mm. Nothing else has ever been stated: no 18mm, no 21mm, no 24mm anywhere in the live catalog. Watch the buckle lines, though, because most 20mm Helgray straps taper to 18mm at the clasp and the Hornet is the one family that stays 22mm end to end.

The chart: two widths, nine families, eleven stated 22s and ten stated 20s

FamilyLug widthCaseLug-to-lugRowsMembers and watch-outs
Vigilante22mm45mmnot stated8Automatic Classic Black (Refurbished) [2], Automatic Classic Black (Prototype), Automatic Red Moon (Prototype), Automatic Night Squad (Prototype), Quartz Classic Black (Refurbished), Quartz Classic Black (Prototype), Quartz Red Moon (Prototype), Quartz Night Squad (Prototype). All eight print the identical block Case diameter : 45 mm Case thickness : 13 mm Lug width : 22 mm; the biggest case in the catalog carries its 22mm on leather-friendly standard lugs at 10 ATM [13]
Hornet (Fighter, Bandit)22mm42mm47mm2Hornet Fighter (Refurbished) [3] and Hornet Bandit (Refurbished) [4]. The 42mm cases that take 22mm, printed Case Diameter : 42 mm ... Lug Width : 22 mm Lug-to-Lug : 47 mm; they also print Strap : 22 mm, leather and Buckle : 22 mm, signed, the only no-taper straps in the stated catalog
Poseidon Diver22mm40mmnot stated1Poseidon Diver (Automatic), 300m on a Calibre NH35, spec block Case diameter : 40 mm Case thickness : 12.8 mm Lug width : 22 mm [1]; the render of the product page carries the line verbatim [13]. Proof the width is not a case-size rule: the same 40mm case width as the 20mm Silverstone
Silverstone20mm40mm47mm4Blue, White, Green and Black (all Refurbished), each printing Lug Width : 20 mm Lug-to-Lug : 47 mm [5]. The strap lines carry the catalog's clearest taper: Strap : 20 mm, leather, tapers down to 18 mm with Clasp : 18 mm deployant, signed, plus a Bonus Bracelet : 20 mm, stainless steel, tapers down to 18 mm, solid end-links in the same block
Field Officer / GMT / California / Skyfighter20mm42mmnot stated4Field Officer I (Refurbished) [9], GMT (Refurbished) [6], California (Refurbished) [7], Skyfighter (Refurbished) [10]. All four print Case Diameter : 42 mm Case Thickness : 10.5 mm Lug Width : 20 mm; the 42mm half of the 20mm class, opposite the 22mm Hornets on the same case number
Speedster20mm39mm46mm2Racing Light Blue [8] and Silver Panda, both printing Case diameter : 39 mm Lug-to-lug : 46 mm Lug width : 20 mm in that order, the only stated rows where the lug-to-lug number comes before the width, a trap for anyone reading the first millimeter figure they meet
Brigadier / Field Officer II20mm42mmnot stated2Brigadier Automatic [11] and Field Officer II (Refurbished) [12]. Render-rescued: their feed rows have lost the spec block, but their live product pages still print Case diameter : 42 mm Case thickness : 11 mm Lug width : 20 mm; carried as render-sourced, outside the 21-row feed census

Case size decides nothing here

The catalog's two widths cut across every case size it uses. At 42mm the GMT states Lug Width : 20 mm [6] while the Hornet Fighter states Lug Width : 22 mm [3]. At 40mm the Silverstone states Lug Width : 20 mm Lug-to-Lug : 47 mm [5] while the Poseidon states Lug width : 22 mm [1]. The 45mm Vigilante takes 22mm [2] and the 39mm Speedster takes 20mm [8], so the ends of the range behave, but the middle is a coin flip unless you know the family. The usual rule of thumb, a 40mm case means a 20mm strap, is wrong half the time in this catalog. The family name on the dial is the only key, and the table above is keyed to it.

The 18mm buckle trap, and the one family without it

Most 20mm Helgray rows print a second, smaller number a few lines below the width, and it is not a second width. The Silverstone block carries Strap : 20 mm, leather, tapers down to 18 mm and then Clasp : 18 mm deployant, signed [5]. The GMT block carries Strap : 20 mm, brown leather, 18mm signed buckle [6]. The Field Officer I and Skyfighter blocks print the same tapers down to 18 mm wording [9] [10]. Buy from those second numbers and you receive a strap 2mm too narrow at the lugs. Two rows break the pattern and prove the label discipline: the California prints Strap : 20 mm, brown leather, 20mm signed buckle, no taper [7], and the Hornet pair prints Strap : 22 mm, leather with Buckle : 22 mm, signed, the same width at both ends [3]. For the general decode of these pairs, the watch strap taper chart maps the whole 20/18 and 22/20 ladder.

Two rows the feed lost but the pages still state

Render-rescue is the method this chart owes its last two rows to. The Brigadier Automatic and Field Officer II feed rows no longer carry a spec block at all; their body text is pure marketing copy with zero millimeter figures. But their rendered product pages, pulled fresh at build, still print the full block including Case diameter : 42 mm Case thickness : 11 mm Lug width : 20 mm on both [11] [12]. Those two rows are charted at 20mm with their evidence class named: render-sourced, not feed-stated, and counted outside the 21-row feed census so the census numbers stay exactly reproducible from the feed alone. If the maker re-syncs the feed the rows will rejoin the stated class; nothing here is backfilled.

The not-stated ten, listed not guessed

Ten of the 43 feed rows print no lug width anywhere: the Le Mans (Legend Rose Gold), the Kensington Quartz, both Superfast Automatic colorways (Silver Panda and Rose Gold Panda), both Bomber Mk2 watches (Sniper and Commander), the Bomber Quartz Brigadier Gray prototype, the Bespoke Experience raffle entry, and the feed-lost Brigadier Automatic and Field Officer II rows just covered. This is the dormant-archive reality of the brand: the older lines were specced in page formats the current feed no longer carries. The maker's own pages give one honest hint for one of them: the Le Mans page prints Strap 20 mm, black calf skin leather racing strap with Buckle 18 mm [14], a strap listing that implies but never states the lug width, so this chart records it as a strap line, not a width. The Kensington page states Case diameter : 38 mm and nothing else [15]. For the Kickstarter-era TCD-01 GMT the only public spec left is a 2017 review quoting Case Diameter: 42 mm Case Thickness: 11 mm Lug Width: 22 mm Lug-to-Lug: 50 mm [16]; carried as third-party history, never as a chart row. Measure those lugs before ordering, and the measuring guide shows the two-minute method.

What the maker's own shop sells, and what it does not

The accessory side of the catalog corroborates the two widths without stating a single lug number. Ten of the 43 feed rows are strap and accessory SKUs: the Superfast Racing Strap, three Racing Straps, two Hornet Straps, two Bomber Pilot Straps and two Bomber Mk2 NATO straps, plus a Butterfly Clasp (20mm) and a Gift Card, all excluded from the watch census by title class [13]. The clasp's 20mm is a clasp width, the same buckle-end number the taper section warns about, never a lug width. None of the strap SKUs prints a width line in the feed at all, which is itself the dormant-archive signature: the SKUs sell by the family they fit, not by the millimeter.

How we verified this

We pulled the maker's catalog feed, 43 rows on a single page, on 2 October 2026 [13], classified every row by title and product type, excluded the 12 strap, accessory and gift-card rows, and read the width line under both labels the brand uses, Lug width lowercase on the newer blocks and Lug Width capitalized on the older ones. The 21 stated rows split 22mm x11 and 20mm x10, matching the research artifact this page was authorized from, with one drift adjudicated on raw: the artifact quoted the Brigadier Automatic as a feed-stated 20mm row, and on the fresh feed that row carries no spec block, so it moved to the render-rescued class after its product page confirmed 20mm. Six product pages were re-pulled as rendered pages at build, poseidon-diver-automatic, vigilante-automatic-classic-black, silverstone-blue, hornet-fighter, speedster-racing-light-blue and gmt-1, plus the two render-rescues, and every width line matched the feed verbatim in tag-stripped text, because the label is HTML-split inside the spec markup and a raw-HTML regex misses the split ones. Numbers that are not widths, the Case diameter, Case thickness, Lug-to-lug and taper neighbors in every block, were excluded by label ownership; the Speedster rows print the lug-to-lug before the width and the Hornet rows print a Buckle line after it, and both orders were adjudicated on context, not position. Incumbents checked at build: the watchbands.ai brand index lists 196 brands with Seiko, Citizen and Rolex present and Helgray absent by slug and by whole-word text [17]; watchpolice carries no Helgray brand page [18] and no Helgray entry in its 950-brand sitemap [19]; the maker's own all-products page offers no width filter or chart [20]; and no consolidated Helgray band size chart surfaced in search at build, only product pages, a watchuseek Kickstarter thread, 2016 and 2017 reviews and the Kickstarter campaign pages, all per-model. Every figure on this page traces to the maker's own pages except the named third-party TCD-01 history.

The lug width chart by brand places Helgray's 20mm and 22mm classes beside every other brand on this site, and the master band size chart indexes them all. For the taper pairs this catalog prints, the watch strap taper chart decodes the second number in listings like 20/18. For other dormant catalogs where the family name holds the answer, the Sans Arret chart keys widths to collections and the Kurono chart reads an archive of pages the maker no longer updates.
