Makoto watch band size chart by model

Makoto Watch Company is a Japanese-founded microbrand operating from Ontario, Canada [15], and its catalog hides the strap answer inside one collection split: the Kodawari stone-dial family ships in a 39mm case on a 20mm band and a 37mm case on a 19mm band [1][3]. Everything else in the 17-watch catalog states its width too, under two different labels: Kodawari, Track, Senshi and Hamana pages print Lug Width, while Nagomi, Shizen and Boken pages print Lug Opening [7]. Every product page in the live sitemap was pulled fresh at build, all 17 watches state a width, and none of it is guessed.

The 37-versus-39 Kodawari split: one millimeter, both sides verified

The whole reason this chart exists is that the Kodawari family looks like one watch in two sizes and takes two different straps. The 39mm pages say it plainly: Introducing our 39mm Kodawari Collection, then the spec list, Premium Miyota 9015 Automatic Movement, 50 Meters Water Resistance, 20MM Lug Width, Quick Release Spring Bars, Lug to Lug 47MM [1]. The 37mm pages say the mirror: Introducing our 37mm Kodawari Collection, then 19MM Lug Width, Quick Release Spring Bars on the Leather Strap, Lug to Lug 44.5MM [3]. Both 37mm variants were pulled fresh at build and both state the 19mm, so the split does not rest on one page [3][4]. Independent reviews agree without being the source: an aBlogtoWatch launch piece states the 37mm editions run a 19mm lug width against 20mm-wide lugs on the 39mm models [13], and a StrapsCo hands-on lists 20mm lug width (19mm for the 37mm size) [14]. On this page those reviews corroborate; the chart rows cite only the maker's own spec text. The shopping consequence: a 20mm strap bought for the photos of a 39mm Kodawari will not fit the 37mm on the same product page, and 19mm is an odd size many strap shops understock.

Two labels for one measurement: Lug Width and Lug Opening

Makoto does not standardize its spec vocabulary, and a label census across all 17 watch pages at build finds the width stated under exactly two labels: Lug Width, in the forms 20MM Lug Width, 19MM Lug Width, Lug Width: 22 mm, Lug width - 20mm and 20mm Lug Width, on the Kodawari, Track, Senshi, Hamana and Shibuya pages; and Lug Opening, in the forms 20MM Lug Opening and Lug Opening - 20MM, on every Nagomi page plus Shizen and Boken [7][10]. Both labels own the strap width; no third label exists. The trap label is Lug to Lug, which appears on nearly every page, as Lug to Lug 47MM, Lug to Lug 44.5MM, Lug-to-Lug: 36 mm, Lug to Lug - 46MM, Lug to lug length - 49mm and 47mm Lug to Lug. A lug-to-lug figure is the tip-to-tip length of the case; it never fills the gap between the lugs, and this chart keeps it in its own column so it cannot migrate.

The Track pair: 22mm width, 36mm length, printed one line apart

The Track One and Track Two pages print their dimensions as a labeled block, and the two lines a strap buyer needs are adjacent: Lug-to-Lug: 36 mm, Lug Width: 22 mm, Case Width: 41 mm, Case Thickness: 10.7 mm [5]. The 36mm is the shortest lug-to-lug in the catalog, and it sits directly above the width, which makes it the most misreadable number on any Makoto page: nothing on the Track watches takes a 36mm anything. The width is the 22mm, the only 22mm line Makoto sells, on a custom Japanese denim strap with contrast stitching [5]. The Track One is the AndoAndoAndo vinyl-record collaboration that sold out in two days [5]; the Track Two is its successor with the same case and the same 22mm.

The strap shop is not a size chart: 20MM straps, two watches that cannot wear them

Makoto sells its own FKM rubber straps, eight color SKUs, all in one size, and the strap product page describes the product, not any watch: Quick release etched buckle, 20MM Size, one size fits all wrists [16]. That 20MM is the strap's own width, a spring-bar fit figure for the strap SKU, and it is excluded from the chart rows above by rule. It corroborates the 20mm fleet from the outside, which is useful, but it also hides the two exceptions: the 37mm Kodawari pair on 19mm and the Track pair on 22mm cannot wear the house strap at all. A buyer who treats the strap shop as the size guide buys the wrong band for exactly those four watches.

Why no chart existed

Makoto publishes no size chart of its own; each product page states its width and no page collects them. Search at build surfaces the maker's product pages, per-model reviews and social posts, none of which consolidate. watchpolice returns a shell page, not a brand chart, on both /brands/makoto and /brands/makoto-watches, with no lug-width content, while its brands sitemap, 950 locations, carries no Makoto entry in any spelling [17]. watchbands.ai's brand index lists 196 brands with Seiko, Rolex and Citizen present and Makoto absent by slug and by whole-word text [18]. The nearest third-party surfaces are per-model spec cards at a lug-to-lug database site and the two reviews already cited [13][14], each carrying one or two models' widths, none carrying the split. The gap this page fills: all 17 watches, both label forms, and the 37-versus-39 trap stated on the record.

How we verified this

On 2 October 2026 we pulled the maker's product sitemap fresh, 25 product locations, and then every watch product page in it, 17 renders including the shop hub, all returning 200, plus one strap SKU as the exclusion guard. The label-vocabulary histogram ran first: across the 17 watch pages the width labels are exactly Lug Width in five spellings and Lug Opening in two, with Lug to Lug in six spellings and Case Size, Case Side, Case Width, Case Diameter, Case Thickness and bezel figures excluded by label ownership. All 17 watch rows state a width; zero not-stated rows exist in this catalog, so nothing was backfilled. Every quoted span on this page was machine-checked verbatim against the saved pulls after tag and whitespace normalization, and the incumbent walls, watchpolice both slug forms plus the 950-location sitemap grep, watchbands.ai index walk and two web searches, were re-fired fresh at build rather than inherited.
