Sternglas band size chart: the width is the case size
Sternglas is a Hamburg Bauhaus watch brand whose entire strap-wearing catalog runs on exactly three widths, and the case diameter, not the model name, decides which one: 16mm on the 33mm cases, 20mm on everything from 38mm up, and a single 12mm outlier [1]. The trap is that family names cross the line. A Naos is 20mm, a Naos XS is 16mm, and nothing about the shared name warns you [1]. This chart assembles every width statement the maker prints, in the feed and on the rendered product pages, and pairs it with the Fits-to compatibility lines the brand puts on its own strap products [1].
The rule, stated first
Three widths, mapped to case diameter across every one of the 58 feed rows that states a width [1]:
| Case diameter | Lug width | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|
| 33mm | 16mm | Naos XS (quartz and Automatik), Sinja; the Junis 34 joins this class via the strap line that reads Fits to: Junis 34, Sinja, Naos XS [1] |
| 33mm, one exception | 12mm | Eluisa, the only 12mm watch in the catalog and the only 33mm case that is not 16mm [1] |
| 38 to 43mm | 20mm | Every Naos, Naos Automatik, Naos XL, Hamburg, Hamburg Automatik, Berlin, Sedius, Tachymeter, Marus, Kanton 2.0, Levin, Asthet, Chrono and Taiga-family row that states a width: 42 of them in the feed [1] |
The maker prints the same rule from the strap side: the straps collection page says you can choose from various widths, including 20mm straps for men's watches and 16mm for women's [4], and the brand's own size guide tables its strap lines against case diameters 33mm, 38mm and 42mm, with every 16mm strap marked for the 33mm column and every 20mm strap for the two larger ones [3]. Neither page names a single watch model. That is the gap this chart fills.
The chart: every watch with a stated width in the feed
All 58 rows, quoted as printed. The line reads Lug width 20 mm (or 16, or 12) inside each product's specification block [1]. Case diameters are the maker's own structured tags [1].

Width stated only on the rendered page
The feed body omits the specification block on some rows, but the rendered product page carries it. This is the class where buying the wrong strap is easiest, because a feed-derived size chart shows nothing at all. Fifteen of those rows, rendered fresh at build time [2]:
| Watch | Case | Lug width | Printed as |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hamburg Chrono Edition Neuwerk 2.0 | 42mm | 20mm | Lug width 20 mm Lug-to-lug 46 mm, the spec block the feed row omits [2] |
| Naos Solar Edition Titanium sand brown | 38mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm [2] |
| Hamburg Solar sepia | 42mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm [2] |
| Naos Solar dark green | 38mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm [2] |
| Naos Solar white | 38mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm [2] |
| Naos XS Edition Mother of Pearl dark blue | 33mm | 16mm | Lug Width 16 mm, the render gate for the XS class [2] |
| Naos XL sand brown | 42mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm, rule sample rendered fresh [2] |
| Marus 2.0 green | 42mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm, rule sample rendered fresh [2] |
| Berlin Automatik midnight blue | 38mm | 20mm | Lug width 20 mm, rule sample rendered fresh [2] |
| Tachymeter 2.0 dark blue | 42mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm, rule sample rendered fresh [2] |
| Lumatik light blue | 38mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm, rule sample rendered fresh [2] |
| Naos Moonphase midnight blue | 38mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm, rule sample rendered fresh [2] |
| Hamburg Edition 1911 | 42mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm, rule sample rendered fresh [2] |
| Naos Pro GMT Automatik silver | 42mm | 20mm | Lug width 20 mm, rule sample rendered fresh [2] |
| Naos Big Date alabaster | 38mm | 20mm | Lug Width 20 mm, rule sample rendered fresh [2] |
Every one of them lands where the case-size rule predicts: 20mm on the 38 to 42mm cases, 16mm on the 33mm XS. The rule is not a guess stretched over a gap; it is the maker's own pattern, holding row after row on fresh renders [2].
Width not stated by the maker
Some rows state no width in the feed, and a few of those state none on the rendered page either. The Egor, Merion and Hamburg Chrono regatta pages carry a Diameter and a Lug-to-lug figure but no Lug width key [2]. This chart does not assign widths to them; the case-size rule predicts 20mm for their 38 and 42mm cases, and the prediction is labeled as a prediction. One further row, the Hamburg Solar white black, is listed in the feed while its product page returns not found at build time, so it is treated as unstated at both depths [5]. If your watch is in this class, measure between the lugs: the gap is the width, and the maker's own pattern makes 20mm the likely answer on a 38mm-plus case, never a certainty.
The Fits-to rail: the maker's own compatibility map
Sternglas sells its straps with the watch compatibility printed on the product, and those lines are the cleanest first-party fitment source in the catalog [1]. The seven distinct lines, with the strap families that carry them:
- Fits to: Hamburg, Naos, Naos Automatik, Companion, Ivo, Chrono, Zirkel, Topograph, the widest 20mm line, on the Vintage, Premium, Modena and related leather families [1]
- Fits to: Naos, Hamburg, Berlin, Sedius, Tachymeter, Marus, Taiga GMT, the second 20mm line, on the rubber, Field, Nylon, SuperSlim and Metal strap families [1]
- Fits to: Naos Edition Vintage, Berlin, Naos Automatik Edition Cambridge, the edition 20mm line [1]
- Fits to: Sinja, Naos XS and Fits to: Junis 34, Sinja, Naos XS, the 16mm lines on Klassik, Noble and Milanaise straps, which is the only place the Junis 34 and the Taiga GMT names appear in a width context [1]
Two names never appear on any Fits-to line: Eluisa, the 12mm watch, has no matching first-party strap listed in the feed at all, and the Kanton 2.0 and Levin names appear only as watches, never on a strap line [1]. Structured tags tell the same story at scale: Lug Width_20mm appears on 71 rows, Lug Width_16mm on 20, strap_20mm on 15, and Compatible with Model tags across ten model keys total 540 instances [1]. The brand built a complete machine-readable compatibility map and never assembled it into a page. This is that page.
What the maker's own size guide covers, and what it does not
Sternglas does publish a size guide, and it should be the first stop for strap length, not width [3]. It tables each strap family against wrist circumference and case diameter: the Klassik / Noble 16 and Milanaise 16 rows carry 14 to 17 cm in the 33mm column, and the 20mm leather, Milanaise, Metal, Field, Nylon and Rubber rows carry 15 to 21 cm ranges in the 38mm and 42mm columns [3]. It confirms the width split at the strap level. What it does not do is name watches: no Naos, no Hamburg, no per-model widths, no Eluisa, and no answer for the buyer who knows the model name and nothing else. The gap between that guide and the per-row width statements is exactly the distance this chart covers.
How this chart was checked
The product feed was pulled fresh on build day, all pages, 259 rows, and every quote above was matched verbatim against that pull [1]. Twenty-three product pages were rendered fresh as gates and samples, following the apex to www redirects, and every width in the render table is the maker's own print [2]. The size guide and the straps collection page were pulled fresh the same way [3] [4]. Widths were never taken from image parameters, buckle tapers or lug-to-lug figures: the lug-to-lug number on the Hamburg Chrono Edition Neuwerk 2.0 is 46 mm and it is a length, not a width [2]. Watchbands.ai lists 189 brands with Seiko, Citizen, Rolex, Omega and Tudor controls firing, and Sternglas is absent from that index by both slug and whole-word match [6]. A search on build day surfaced the maker's own pages and generic strap guides, but no consolidated Sternglas width chart [8]. This site's own live sitemap was re-pulled cache-busted immediately before this page was added, and it carried 143 locations with zero Sternglas content [7].
